New Delhi: Vertiv Holdings has completed the $200 million acquisition of Great Lakes Data Racks & Cabinets, a U.S.-based manufacturer of racks, enclosures, and integrated infrastructure solutions for data centers. The acquisition, initially announced earlier this year, is expected to strengthen Vertiv’s portfolio in high-density computing and integrated infrastructure systems, particularly as demand rises from AI and edge computing applications.
Great Lakes, founded in 1985 and headquartered in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, operates manufacturing and assembly facilities in the U.S. and Europe. Its product line includes standard and custom racks, integrated cabinets, seismic enclosures, and cable management solutions, serving both retrofit and new-build data center projects. By combining these capabilities with its own, Vertiv aims to streamline infrastructure sourcing, accelerate deployment timelines through pre-engineered solutions, and enhance operational efficiency by integrating power and cooling systems at the factory level.
According to Vertiv Chief Executive Officer Gio Albertazzi, the integration of Great Lakes will support the company’s efforts to meet the growing needs of high-performance computing environments. Industry observers note that the acquisition aligns with broader trends in the data center sector, where companies are increasingly seeking end-to-end solutions to handle the rising power and cooling demands of AI workloads.
The deal highlights a continued wave of consolidation in the digital infrastructure market as providers move to expand their offerings and address the complexity of modern data centers. For Vertiv, the acquisition strengthens its position in providing comprehensive infrastructure solutions across global markets.
