Hyundai Mobis Expands India Presence with New Software R&D Centre in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Hyundai Mobis, South Korea’s largest auto parts maker, has strengthened its research footprint in India with the establishment of an additional R&D centre in Bengaluru.

The move comes as global automakers demand more advanced core component development and as India’s auto market shifts toward larger vehicles with sophisticated electronics.

Dual-track R&D strategy for local market needs

The company said the new facility will operate as a specialised software-focused R&D branch. It will complement the integrated R&D hub opened earlier this year in Hyderabad.

The Hyderabad centre will remain the local headquarters, responsible for software strategy and application development. The Bengaluru branch will focus on areas closely connected to hardware, including software frameworks that support safety and performance functions.

The company noted that India’s automotive landscape is rapidly evolving from compact cars to mid- and large-segment models. This transition is driving significant demand for technologies such as advanced driver assistance systems and premium electronic components.

Strengthening India operations

Hyundai Mobis currently produces modules and key components at its plants in Chennai and Anantapur. Its parts facility in Gurugram supports consistent supply of after-sales service components. With the new R&D expansion, the company aims to scale its business with global carmakers operating in India.
