Jamnagar: Reliance Industries has announced the launch of a new wholly owned subsidiary, Reliance Intelligence, alongside a partnership with Google to establish a dedicated Cloud region in Jamnagar. The announcements were made during the company’s 48th Annual General Meeting, where Chairman Mukesh Ambani outlined the group’s plans to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and infrastructure.
Reliance Intelligence will anchor the company’s AI strategy through gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers powered by clean energy, with construction already underway in Jamnagar. Ambani said the subsidiary would focus on building services tailored to India’s consumers, small businesses, enterprises, and critical sectors while also facilitating global AI collaborations.
The collaboration with Google Cloud will add scale and technology depth to the initiative. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, said the Jamnagar Cloud region would bring advanced AI and compute capabilities to India, supported by Reliance’s clean energy base and Jio’s network infrastructure. He described the move as a natural extension of the decade-long partnership between the two companies, which earlier focused on expanding internet access across the country. With this initiative, Reliance aims to position itself as a central player in India’s emerging AI ecosystem, while Google strengthens its role in the country’s cloud and digital transformation efforts.
