New Delhi: Qualcomm Technologies has completed the acquisition of Augentix, a developer of low-power image signal processors and multimedia system-on-chips, in a move aimed at expanding the hardware ecosystem supporting its Insight platform.
The acquisition adds Augentix’s camera and video processing capabilities to Qualcomm’s existing edge AI portfolio, enabling a wider range of smart surveillance solutions for enterprise, industrial and public infrastructure use. Qualcomm said the integration will allow solution providers to deploy both cost-efficient and high-performance camera systems while maintaining a unified software and analytics framework.
As demand grows for intelligent video systems in areas such as urban infrastructure, manufacturing sites and large enterprises, vendors are increasingly focusing on end-to-end platforms that simplify deployment and management. By bringing Augentix’s ISP and SoC capabilities in-house, Qualcomm strengthens its ability to support varied surveillance requirements without fragmenting development workflows.
The deal also has implications for the Indian market, where public and private infrastructure is seeing rapid digitisation and increased adoption of IP-based surveillance. Government officials noted that access to trusted and scalable camera platforms is becoming critical as deployments expand across cities and enterprises. The combined offering is expected to support local OEMs and system integrators seeking flexible yet secure camera solutions.
Founded in 2014, Augentix specialises in low-power, high-resolution video processing for professional surveillance and embedded camera systems. Following the acquisition, its technologies will be integrated into the Qualcomm Insight platform and made available to partners globally. Qualcomm did not disclose the financial details of the transaction but indicated that Augentix’s solutions will form a core part of its edge AI and smart surveillance strategy going forward.
