NTT Data to Add 5,000 Jobs in India in 2026 Amid AI Push

New Delhi: NTT Data plans to hire 5,000 more employees in India in 2026, even as the technology sector faces concerns over layoffs linked to artificial intelligence.

The subsidiary of NTT Group, NTT Data, currently employs about 40,000 people in India. The company is also building four data centres in the country as part of a $1.5 billion investment plan.

Reportedly, the new roles will span software programming, consulting, and IT support. The hiring drive stands out at a time when many companies are restructuring operations to adapt to AI-led automation.

The expansion follows a surge in large IT contracts. Deals worth more than $100 million have doubled over the past year, driven by demand from manufacturing, logistics, and the public sector.

The announcement comes as India accelerates its AI ambitions. At the recent AI summit in Delhi, companies pledged $277 billion toward AI infrastructure, mainly data centres, reflecting strong investor interest in expanding capacity across the country.
