Google Bets on AI Wearables with Screenless Fitbit Air And 7-Day Battery Life

New Delhi, May 8(CXO Media): Google is pushing deeper into AI-powered wearables with the launch of the Fitbit Air, a new screenless health tracker priced at $100. The device arrives as tech companies race to make wearables lighter, cheaper and more focused on health monitoring instead of notifications.

The Fitbit Air tracks heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep stages, heart rhythm irregularities and stress-related metrics while removing the display entirely. Google said the device is designed for users who want continuous tracking without the distraction of a smartwatch screen.

The launch also highlights Google’s growing AI push in consumer health technology. Alongside the wearable, the company introduced Google Health Coach, a Gemini-powered assistant that can analyse sleep data, suggest workout routines and provide personalised wellness insights through the Google Health app.

The wearable market has increasingly shifted towards lightweight health-focused devices as consumers look for longer battery life and simpler alternatives to premium smartwatches. Google claims the Fitbit Air delivers up to seven days of battery life and supports fast charging with a full day’s usage in five minutes.

The company has also integrated the device with the Pixel Watch ecosystem, allowing users to switch between devices for workouts, sleep tracking and daily activity monitoring.

The Fitbit Air will be available from May 26 with multiple band options, including waterproof and recycled-material variants. The launch places Google in direct competition with budget fitness trackers and emerging AI-driven wellness devices in the global wearable technology market.
