Bengaluru, May 13(CXO Media): India’s AI chip race is drawing fresh investor interest. Bengaluru-based semiconductor startup HrdWyr has raised $13 million in a Series A funding round as demand grows for chips designed to power AI applications beyond cloud infrastructure.
The round was led by Ideaspring Capital, with participation from Singularity AMC, Avatar Growth Capital and existing investor Persistent Systems. The Bengaluru startup plans to use the capital to expand development of AI-native semiconductor products and strengthen global customer partnerships.
Founded in 2023 by Ramamurthy Sivakumar and Guruswamy Ganesh, HrdWyr is building chips for edge computing — technology that processes AI tasks directly on devices instead of relying only on cloud systems. This approach is increasingly being adopted in electric vehicles, consumer electronics, industrial automation and data centres where faster processing and lower power use matter.
Under the India Semiconductor Mission, the government has committed Rs 76,000 crore to strengthen local chip capabilities. Multiple semiconductor projects have also received approval as India looks to reduce import dependence and position itself in global electronics supply chains.
