New Delhi: Qualcomm, a multinational semiconductor designer and manufacturer, has officially launched its Snapdragon X platform in India, marking a significant step towards making AI-powered PCs more affordable in the country. The new Arm-based chip includes Oryon CPU cores, a neural processing unit (NPU), and on-device AI processing. The chipset is also optimized for Microsoft’s Copilot Plus PC platform.
- Snapdragon X Chip: Specifications & Features
The Snapdragon X chip is built on Arm architecture and features an 8-core Oryon CPU with a clock speed of up to 3.0 GHz. Compared to the high-end Snapdragon X Elite, which comes with a 12-core CPU and reaches 3.8 GHz multi-core frequency, the Snapdragon X chip is a more budget-friendly alternative.
One of the key highlights of the chipset is its powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering 45 TOPS performance, the same as other premium Snapdragon X-series processors. This makes it ideal for on-device AI tasks, including Microsoft Copilot+ AI-driven features. Additionally, the integrated GPU is optimized for web browsing, media streaming, and business presentations.
Other notable features of the Snapdragon X chip include extended battery life, Bluetooth 5.4 support, and compatibility with Wi-Fi 7.
- Brands that have Launched Snapdragon X-powered Laptops
ASUS has become the first brand to introduce laptops powered by the new Snapdragon X chip. The company has announced two models—Vivobook 16 and Zenbook A14—with prices starting at Rs. 65,990. Both models are now available for pre-orders on ASUS’ official website, ASUS Exclusive stores, Flipkart, and Amazon, ahead of their official India launch on March 10.
- More OEMs to Join the Snapdragon X Ecosystem
Qualcomm has confirmed that additional laptop manufacturers (OEMs) will introduce Snapdragon X-powered devices in the coming months, further expanding the market for AI-enhanced PCs in India.
