New Delhi: In a move to bolster its cybersecurity portfolio, A10 Networks has acquired the assets and key personnel of ThreatX Protect. This strategic acquisition expands A10’s capabilities in Web Application and API Protection (WAAP), addressing the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape. The transaction has been completed, and the acquisition is expected to contribute to A10’s earnings per share in 2025.
- Addressing Growing Web Application and API Threats
With cyber threats targeting web applications and APIs on the rise, enterprises are seeking advanced solutions to safeguard their digital assets. ThreatX Protect offers a unique WAAP solution that leverages behavioral and risk profiling to protect against evolving threats, including those targeting AI applications. The solution, delivered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), includes API protection, bot management, and a next-generation web application firewall.
A10 Networks emphasized that integrating ThreatX Protect into its existing security suite enhances its ability to protect mission-critical applications from modern threats. The addition of WAAP to A10’s portfolio enables enterprises to establish a more comprehensive security posture.
- Enhancing A10’s Security Strategy
The acquisition aligns with A10’s long-term strategy of providing a hybrid security approach for applications and APIs, regardless of deployment—whether in public or private cloud, co-location facilities, or on-premises infrastructure. The A10 Defend portfolio, which already includes DDoS protection and threat intelligence, will now offer an integrated WAAP solution for end-to-end security.
A10 Networks stated that expanding its security portfolio with ThreatX Protect equips its customers with additional tools to combat evolving threats. The company also aims to secure emerging AI use cases through advanced security measures.
- Future of ThreatX
As part of the transition, the remaining assets of ThreatX will be rebranded under a new entity, ‘Run Security’. The eBPF-based solution formerly known as TX Prevent will now be relaunched as RS Prevent, marking a new phase for the organisation.
- Financial and Strategic Implications
The specific terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. However, A10 Networks clarified that the deal is in line with its broader strategy to expand its security capabilities and strengthen its presence in the enterprise market. Despite the acquisition, A10 reiterated that there would be no material changes to its 2025 financial outlook or long-term business model.
With the integration of ThreatX Protect, A10 Networks continues to reinforce its position as a key player in cybersecurity, offering enterprises robust protection against the ever-evolving threat landscape.
