New Delhi: The multinational consulting firm Accenture plans to promote some 50,000 workers worldwide by June in a significant effort to boost staff morale, according to reports.
One of the company’s biggest talent pools, India, will host 15,000 of these campaigns. The announcement comes after promotion cycles were delayed by six months due to a decline in the market for consultancy services and other economic challenges.
Through internal letters, the corporation informed staff members of the decision on 20 May. Of Accenture’s existing worldwide workforce of about 801,000 individuals, these advancements will represent about 6%. In addition to India, some 10,000 workers in the Americas and 11,000 in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) will be promoted to new positions.
Originally planned for December 2023, the promotions were postponed until June 2024 because of growing financial strain and business uncertainties. The action is intended to “support retention and engagement” following a particularly tumultuous year for the consulting and technology industries, as per the memo.
The email made it clear that not all employees will receive cash benefits just yet, even if the goal of this promotion cycle is to raise morale. Base salary increases will be given to a select few in strategic growth sectors, but decisions about incentives and performance-linked stock will not be made until December. The company’s careful approach, which strikes a balance between recognition and financial caution, is reflected in its staggered award structure.
