Bengaluru: Beckn Labs and Google Cloud have announced the launch of ‘Beckn Onix,’ an open-source application aimed at speeding up the development and adoption of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) built on the Beckn Protocol.
The platform is designed to drive inclusive growth across large-scale sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, skilling, energy, tourism, and mobility.
Simplifying Open Network Development
Governments and organizations worldwide are increasingly adopting open digital networks, but integrating diverse and complex IT systems has remained a challenge. Beckn Onix addresses this issue by eliminating the need for custom-built integrations that are often costly and hard to maintain. With Beckn Onix, organizations can now connect their existing systems to open networks more efficiently and at a fraction of the cost.
According to Google Cloud, the new platform offers the secure and scalable infrastructure required to deploy AI-driven solutions across multiple sectors. It allows organizations that previously took months to onboard onto open networks to now do so within minutes, enabling faster rollout of AI-enabled public and commercial services.
Empowering Inclusive and Scalable Growth
Beckn Onix builds upon the Beckn Protocol, an open and decentralized digital standard that enables buyers and sellers to interact directly without intermediaries. By reducing entry barriers, it opens new opportunities for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and local sellers. The platform represents the first cloud-native implementation of the Beckn Protocol and is now available on GitHub.
Startups and public institutions can use Beckn Onix to build open networks within as little as 45 minutes, a process that used to take four to five months. It also supports Google’s Agent Development Kit, allowing developers to integrate AI-native capabilities and create digital agents that simplify workflows while leveraging Gemini or other AI models.
A Universal Bridge for Open Networks
Beckn Onix functions as a universal “adapter” or “bridge,” enabling any organization’s backend systems to communicate securely with other platforms on open networks. Its plugin-based architecture offers flexibility for organizations to integrate preferred services for signing, storage, or monitoring. This design ensures maximum interoperability and scalability across sectors.
Beckn Labs highlighted that Beckn Onix serves as a plug-and-play adaptor that eliminates the need for multiple protocols across industries, creating an interconnected ecosystem. The platform can support diverse applications in commerce, education, agriculture, and energy through various initiatives such as ONEST, VISTAAR, DEG, and UEI.
Proven Impact in Uttar Pradesh
Beckn Onix has already been implemented in Uttar Pradesh, where Google Cloud collaborated with the state government to build an Open Network Stack for Agriculture (ONA). The project has reached over 12,800 farmers, improving their market access and profitability.
Industry leaders emphasized that open networks powered by Beckn enable unified, interoperable systems that can achieve true global scale. By using Beckn Onix, governments and businesses can rapidly create trusted, cross-sector digital ecosystems that connect people, services, and opportunities seamlessly.
