Vanguard Opens First GCC in Hyderabad, to Employ Over 2,300 Professionals by 2029

Hyderabad: American investment services major Vanguard has inaugurated its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking a major expansion of its global technology operations.

The new facility is expected to become Vanguard’s largest technology hub by 2029, employing more than 2,300 professionals, with a near-term goal of hiring 300 employees by the end of 2025, according to an official release.

Focus on Engineering Excellence and Emerging Technologies

The Hyderabad centre will serve as a global hub for engineering excellence, driving innovation in cloud modernisation, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and cybersecurity. It will also include collaborative innovation labs aimed at accelerating advancements across Vanguard’s digital platforms and enterprise solutions.

Vanguard’s Global Chief Information Officer, Nitin Tandon, said the centre is a strategic initiative focused on talent rather than cost efficiency. He noted that the company is ahead of its hiring plan and receiving strong interest from skilled professionals in India’s technology market. Tandon added that Vanguard expects to close 2025 with approximately 300 employees, exceeding initial targets.

Hyderabad’s Growing Role as a Global Financial and Tech Hub

Hyderabad continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for global financial institutions. The city already hosts seven of the world’s top asset management firms, which together manage assets exceeding $30 trillion.

Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, stated that Vanguard’s entry highlights Hyderabad’s global competitiveness, skilled workforce, and policy stability. He reiterated the state government’s goal to attract 120 new GCCs within the next year, which could generate around 1.2 lakh new jobs.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that Vanguard’s investment reflects Hyderabad’s growing reputation as a technology and innovation hub capable of supporting global-scale digital transformation initiatives.

A Strategic Choice Backed by Talent and Trust

Vanguard had first announced its GCC plans in March 2025. Reflecting on the decision, Vanguard CEO Salim Ramji said the company chose Hyderabad for its diverse talent pool, strong ecosystem of technology expertise, innovation-driven mindset, and the supportive policies of the Telangana government.

He added that Hyderabad has emerged as a hub of trust and integrity, making it a natural choice for Vanguard’s global value centre as the firm expands its technology and operations footprint worldwide.
