Meta Rolls Out ‘Vibes’, an AI Short-video Feed to Challenge TikTok and Reels

New Delhi: Meta Platforms has launched Vibes, an AI-powered short video feed aimed at strengthening its presence in the competitive short-form content space. The tool will be available from Thursday on the Meta AI app and the meta.ai website.

Unlike existing feeds, Vibes allows users to create AI-generated videos from scratch, remix older clips, or enhance them with visuals and background music. The platform also integrates with Meta’s ecosystem, enabling creators to share content directly on Vibes or cross-post to Instagram Stories, Facebook Reels, and other channels. This move underscores Meta’s strategy to keep users engaged within its network while competing with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and similar platforms.

The launch comes as Meta restructures its artificial intelligence operations under the newly created Superintelligence Labs division. The company has faced challenges with its open-source Llama 4 AI model and high-profile staff exits, prompting a shift toward practical AI-driven tools that can support both individual users and businesses. Vibes, along with AI-based advertising formats and AR-powered smart glasses, reflects Meta’s focus on using artificial intelligence to expand revenue sources beyond traditional advertising.

Meta reported nearly $165 billion in revenue last year, but like other tech firms, it is under pressure to diversify income streams as user behavior shifts toward short-form and interactive content. Analysts see Vibes as part of Meta’s broader effort to position itself in the evolving market for AI-generated media, where questions around user adoption, competition, and long-term monetization remain open.
